Haven't Found The Dream Egypt Vacation For You?

We’ll Help You Book Your Flights to Egypt

Unfortunately, our Egypt holiday packages in New Zealand do not include flights to Egypt from New Zealand. However, the Inside Egypt team can compare offers from different carriers, if needed, and find the best flights for you at a favorable price. They will advise on the best flights available to join the Egypt tours from New Zealand.

We do know that there are no direct flights to Egypt from New Zealand. With airlines such as Emirates and Qatar Airways you can fly to Cairo, Egypt from Auckland with just one stop. From other airports in New Zealand, such as Wellington and Christchurch, it is possible to join a flight to Egypt with a minimum of two stops.

If you search and book flights to Egypt from New Zealand yourself, we have some advice for you (Egypt travel advice New Zealand). Buy your tickets for your flights to Egypt from New Zealand as early as possible, preferably a few months before your trip. Prices always increase the closer you get to the departure date for your flights to Egypt from New Zealand.

If you spot a cheap flight, book your tickets right away and don't wait. Believe us, the price will go up and you will wish you had booked them sooner.

Of course, before buying a ticket, you should first check the prices, i.e. do your research and compare the prices of all carriers that fly from New Zealand to Egypt.

When doing research, websites that are flight search engines are a great help. Popular search engines are KAYAK, SKYSCANNER and MOMONDO. In these search engines, you enter the date and place of departure, and possibly the date of return. Then the search engine will show you all of the possibilities for flights to Egypt from New Zealand to join our tour.

After completing the research and making a decision on which flights you will choose, it is time to confirm your booking and buy your ticket. You must remember not to make reservations via search engine sites. Use KAYAK, SKYSCANNER and others, to just search for flights and book directly from the airline's website.

Tickets bought directly from the carrier are cheaper. If you buy from a search engine site, you have to take into account a slightly inflated price. By buying directly from the carrier, you will avoid problems with check-in and it will be easier for you to add additional options later, such as luggage, seat selections etc. This will give you peace of mind for a comfortable journey to join our tours.

How Much Do They Cost in New Zealand Dollars?

Egypt Tours from New Zealand

Prices for our Egypt holiday packages in New Zealand are not listed in New Zealand Dollars or Egyptian Pounds, only in US Dollars. However, you can pay for our Egypt and Jordan luxury tours in New Zealand online with a Visa or Master credit or debit card. You can also make a bank transfer in US currency to our account. If paying by bank transfer you must cover all costs of the international transfer.

You can pay for optional trips in Egypt in cash in US currency or by card. Please note that a 2% charge is applied to card transactions.

It is best to take US currency with you when traveling from New Zealand to Egypt. It will be useful at the airport in Cairo to purchase your Egyptian visa, which costs $ 25 (cash) per person. You can also take Euros or Australian Dollars with you, which can be exchanged on the spot in a bank or at a currency exchange office. Exchange rates according to the National Bank of Egypt can be checked HERE.

We advise you not to exchange currency at the airport immediately after arrival as the exchange rate will be very unfavorable.

In Egypt, you can withdraw Egyptian pounds from many ATMs located in 5-star hotels and large towns. In small Egyptian towns, it is better to always have some cash in Egyptian currency with you, just in case, as there may be a problem with finding an ATM or paying with a card, for example in a small souvenir shop or grocery store.

There is a very developed culture of tipping in Egypt and it is best to give tips in local Egyptian currency or US dollars. Read our guide on tipping in Egypt where we talk about how much you should tip for different services on your Egypt tours from New Zealand.

Egypt and Jordan Luxury Tours New Zealand

Egypt Tours from New Zealand

If you travel to Egypt from New Zealand on one of our Egypt tours, it is worth considering visiting nearby Jordan as part of your Egypt trip from New Zealand. This will allow you to make the most of your vacation time in the Middle East on our Egypt and Jordan luxury tours in New Zealand. Inside Egypt offers the Jordan 5-day add-on at the end of each of our tours, which means you can visit two Middle Eastern countries, and do both Egypt and Jordan small-group tours in just one trip.

Middle Eastern Jordan is a fascinating country, not only because of the famous Petra. In addition to the rock city, counted among the seven modern wonders of the world, this country offers very diverse attractions - from places known from the Bible(Mount Nebo is a great example!), through Roman ruins and medieval castles, to the Dead Sea and Red Sea resorts, and the amazing desert of  Wadi Rum.

During our Egypt and Jordan luxury tours, New Zealand you will visit the following places in Jordan:

Amman is a city that can charm you. It is a breath of the Orient and a foothold of Arab culture. There are lots of sights to see in the city, including the Amphitheatre. It dates from the 2nd century and is very well preserved. An important historical site in the city of Amman is the Citadel with many buildings like the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace. From the hill on which the citadel is located, there is a view of the city that is truly breathtaking.

The Jordanian desert impresses with its unusual red color and the originality of rock formations. Its natural, historical and cultural richness has led to the area being declared a reserve, and UNESCO has placed Wadi Rum on its World Heritage List.

The ancient city of the Nabataeans, Petra, is a world-class monument. The biggest attraction of Petra is the famous Treasury and crowds of tourists gather in front of it, taking in the great sight. The rock city is crossed by several trails, which lead to unusual places and vantage points with stairs carved into the rock. You can be sure that Petra will completely captivate you.

The ruins of the medieval Shobak Castle are a remnant of the Crusaders. They are located on a hill with beautiful views.

Madaba. The greatest treasure of this Christian-dominated city is a 6th-century map. A mosaic depicting the Holy Land is on the floor of the Orthodox Church of St. George. It shows, among other things, Jerusalem surrounded by walls, boats on the Dead Sea, and fish in the Jordan River - all intricately arranged from tiny, colorful pebbles.

It was from this height that Moses and the people of Israel, led by him from slavery in Egypt, saw the Promised Land. This moment came after 40 years of wandering the Israelites through the desert. However, the prophet himself was not allowed to enter the Promised Land - it was a punishment for the sin committed earlier. This means that Mount Nebo is the place where Moses died. Today, on the top of the mountain, there is the Sanctuary of Moses, with an archaeological park and an extensive view from an altitude of over 800 meters above sea level.

The Dead Sea is actually a lake with no outlet, sandwiched between Jordan, Israel and Palestine. Its salinity is so high that organic life is almost non-existent here. The unusual concentration of salt also means that even people who cannot swim will float in its waters.

The Jordan 5-day add-on costs $3655 (USD) per person in a twin/double room, based on 2 travelers. The single supplement costs $1265 (USD). You can easily book your Egypt and Jordan small-group tours from New Zealand, just indicate that you want to participate in the Jordan 5-day add-on when you register for one of our luxury Egypt tours. Our Inside Egypt team will be happy to assist with any questions you may have about the Egypt tours from New Zealand and the Jordan 5-day add-on.

Does Egypt Still Have Covid Travel Restrictions?

New Zealand citizens traveling to Egypt (New Zealand travel to Egypt) for Egypt tours from New Zealand from June 17, 2022 do not need to undergo PCR tests before traveling to Egypt, nor do they need to have proof of valid Covid 19 vaccinations. They also do not need any other vaccinations to enter Egypt or join our Egypt tours.

However, we do have some advice for New Zealand citizens who are planning their holidays in Egypt (New Zealand travel to Egypt). On the day of entry into Egypt, a New Zealand citizen's passport should be valid for at least six months from the planned date of departure. New Zealand citizens arriving in Egypt must also purchase an Egyptian Visa. Visas to Egypt can be obtained at the Egyptian Embassy in New Zealand, on arrival at the airport in Egypt, or purchased online at http://www.visa2egypt.gov.eg/. An Egyptian tourist visa costs $25 for single entry and $60 for multiple entry. The first type of visa allows you to stay for no longer than 30 days in Egypt.

While in Egypt on your tour, you must remember the increased observance of hygiene rules. Recommended activities include frequent hand washing or use of sanitizer in the absence of access to running water and soap, drinking only bottled water and using bottled water to clean teeth, and thoroughly washing fruits and vegetables before eating. In crowded indoor spaces such as museums, airports, mosques, and churches, face masks should be worn.
Some travelers from New Zealand experience a gastrointestinal discomfort known as Pharaoh's Revenge after the first few days of their stay. It is worth preparing for such a situation and taking medicines for this type of problem. Before and during the tour, it is also worth taking probiotics. You also need to protect your skin from the sun by applying a cream with a high SPF often throughout the day.

Another extremely important issue that we must remember before traveling from New Zealand to Egypt is travel insurance. Travel insurance for traveling to Egypt is essential for all travelers from New Zealand to Egypt. Our Egypt holiday packages in New Zealand unfortunately do not include travel insurance. There are many private clinics and hospitals in Egypt that guarantee high-quality medical care. However, they are very expensive. Egyptian public health services may deviate from what you are used to in your own country. The lack of financial resources is tantamount to the inability to use any medical care.

Take airy summer clothes in bright colors made of natural fabrics to keep you comfortable during our Egypt tours. You should pack a warm sweater and a jacket when going to Egypt in winter as evenings and mornings can be really cool. Don't forget about packing comfortable shoes, a hat, and sunglasses when traveling from New Zealand to Egypt. Avoid tight-fitting clothes, short shorts and skirts, and blouses that reveal your shoulders. The more of your body you cover, the better, especially when visiting religious sites, as you will not stand out and attract the attention of the Egyptian people. There are very strict dress codes when visiting churches and mosques.

Do New Zealanders Need Visas to Enter Egypt?

Egypt Tours from New Zealand

New Zealand citizens traveling to join the Egypt tours from New Zealand must purchase an Egyptian tourist visa (Egypt tourist visa New Zealand). They must also have a valid passport to enter Egypt. The New Zealand passport must be valid for six months from the intended date of return from the Egypt tour from New Zealand.
New Zealand citizens who travel to Egypt can purchase an Egyptian Tourist Visa in different ways:
- at the airport in Egypt, where it is stuck into the passport,
- at the Egyptian diplomatic representation such as the Egyptian Embassy in New Zealand (Wellington),
- online via a dedicated website.
In our opinion, the most convenient and easiest way to purchase an Egyptian visa for the Egypt tours from New Zealand is at the airport on arrival in Egypt. However, you must have US currency in cash to purchase the visa at the airport. All you need to do is approach one of the bank windows, pay the fee, and the purchased visa stamp will then be stuck on a blank page in the passport. It should be shown to the official at passport control. An Egyptian visa is valid only when the official stamps it with entry to Egypt. An Egyptian visa costs USD 25 for a single entry or USD 60 for multiple entries. An Egyptian tourist visa is issued for 30 days and during this time you can enjoy the Egyptian sunshine, magnificent historical sites, amazing culture, and friendly hospitality.

You can apply for an Egypt visa online by visiting visa2egypt.gov.eg. We provide you with the website details for a reason - many unofficial websites are waiting for tourists online, which ultimately ends up only in the loss of money. That is why you should check the legitimacy of the site, and in case of any doubts - stop the purchase.

On the indicated visa web page, you will need to register and fill out the form. Only after providing your data and other necessary information, will you be redirected to the payment, which should be made using any debit card. After going through the whole process, you will receive a confirmation email that you need to download and print. Then the document must be presented to the Egyptian official at immigration on arrival in Egypt.

As you can see, the visa formalities are not complicated. However, it should be remembered that when buying a visa online, it must be done at least one week before the planned Egypt tour from New Zealand.

If New Zealand citizens are traveling to Sharm el Sheikh, which is located on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and do not book further optional trips, for example to Luxor or Cairo, they are not required to purchase an Egyptian visa. All you need is a free Sinai Only visa which entitles you to a 15-day stay in the Sinai Peninsula. This visa is issued at the airport, after approaching the passport control.
